Remote Staffing Hiring Checklist
Use this before opening a role. A good brief makes candidate comparison fairer and makes the first month easier to manage.
Define the job
- List the three outcomes the person should own in the first 90 days.
- Separate required skills from tools that can be learned.
- State the schedule, time-zone overlap, and manager.
- Document which decisions require approval.
Evaluate candidates
- Use the same role-specific questions for each candidate.
- Review a small work sample with fictional data.
- Confirm relevant system experience and communication channels.
- Discuss escalation judgment, not only task speed.
Prepare onboarding
- Grant minimum necessary access and name an access owner.
- Provide approved SOPs and examples of good work.
- Set a first-week check-in and monthly review rhythm.
- Write down agreements, payment responsibilities, and handoff procedures.
